Welcome to STUD'IN. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy informs you about how we collect, use, and share your information
STUD'IN, represented by its founder Gui Martinien Doba, is the data controller
For questions, contact privacy@stud-in.be
We collect several types of data:
Your data is used for:
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with:
When you talk to Alice, your message and the relevant context from your profile (school, field of study, role) are sent to an AI model provider to produce an answer. These exchanges pass through our own server, never directly from your device, and the access keys stay on our side. Alice keeps a memory of your preferences to personalise its answers: you can review and erase it from your settings. Your conversations are not used to train models.
We use cookies strictly necessary for the site to work — keeping your session, language choice, display preferences. No advertising or third-party tracking cookie is set without your consent. You can delete them from your browser, at the cost of signing in again on each visit.
If you enable them, your device receives a technical identifier (token) which we store in order to send you notifications. This token reveals neither your identity nor your location. Declining notifications, or turning them off in your phone settings, stops this; the token is then erased at the next sign-in.
Location is requested only for features that depend on it: showing nearby housing or carpools, placing an event on the map. It is approximate, used at search time, and not kept as a movement history. You may refuse it: the relevant modules then work by manual city search.
Your conversations are stored so they follow you from one device to another. They are neither read nor analysed for advertising. A team member can access them only upon a report, and solely to handle that report. Deleting a conversation removes it from your account; it may remain with your correspondent.
When you provide your PayPal email address on STUD'IN: we store it securely in our Supabase database; it is only visible to users interested in your listings; we do not conduct any financial transactions on our behalf and have no access to your PayPal account. You can delete or update this information at any time from your listing management page.
When you use STUD'IN MOBILE, we may collect additional data:
Your data is hosted in the European Union (Ireland). Some processors — AI model providers, search services, Google for authentication and notifications — may process data from third countries. Those transfers rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or on an adequacy decision.
The platform suggests listings, events or content based on your profile and activity. These suggestions have no legal effect and condition no right. No decision with a significant effect — verification, sanction — is taken in a fully automated way: a human is always involved.
The platform is not intended for under-16s. We do not knowingly collect their data. If you find that someone under 16 has an account, write to privacy@stud-in.be: the account will be closed and the data erased.
Under GDPR, you have the following rights:
To exercise these rights, contact privacy@stud-in.be
We implement appropriate security measures to protect your data
We keep technical logs — IP address, timestamps, errors — to detect abuse and fix failures. An error-tracking tool records application incidents, without the content of your messages. In the event of a data breach posing a risk to your rights, we inform you and notify the authority within the time limits set by the GDPR.
We retain your data as long as your account is active
You can delete your account from your settings. Your profile data, listings and conversations are erased within 30 days. Some information may be kept longer where the law requires it — transaction records, accounting obligations — or in anonymised form, which no longer identifies you.
If you believe the processing of your data does not comply with the GDPR, write to us first at privacy@stud-in.be. You may also lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Authority, rue de la Presse 35, 1000 Brussels.
We may update this policy. Significant changes will be notified
