Terms of Use

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using the STUD'IN app, you confirm that you have read, understood, and accepted all of these terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the service

2. User Obligations

By using STUD'IN, you agree to:

• Provide accurate, up-to-date, and complete information upon registration and on your profile
• Use the service responsibly, ethically, and lawfully
• Not publish illegal, hateful, defamatory, obscene, or fraudulent content
• Not impersonate another person or entity
• Not use the service for unauthorized commercial purposes (spam)

3. Content and Intellectual Property

• Your content: You retain ownership of the content you post. However, you grant us a worldwide license to use it to operate the service
• Our content: The STUD'IN service is the property of STUD'IN and protected by copyright laws

4. Liability

STUD'IN is a matchmaking platform. We are not a party to agreements between users

• We do not guarantee the quality, safety, or legality of ads or services
• You are solely responsible for your interactions
• Our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the last 12 months

5. Account and security

Your account is yours alone. You undertake to:

• Keep your password secret and never lend your account
• Tell us without delay if you suspect unauthorised access
• Not create several accounts to evade a sanction or distort the leaderboard
• Answer for any activity carried out from your account

6. Minimum age

STUD'IN is aimed at higher-education students. Registration is limited to people aged 16 or over. Below that age, a detected account is deleted and the associated data erased.

7. Student status verification

Verified status relies on your institution's e-mail address or on a document you submit. You undertake to:

• Not use another person's address, nor a falsified document
• Tell us if you lose your student status while still using a benefit tied to it
• Accept that STUD'IN may withdraw verified status, without notice, on legitimate doubt

8. Listings and member-to-member transactions

Listings — housing, books, carpooling, tutoring, events — are published by members, not by STUD'IN. Accordingly:

• You alone are responsible for the accuracy of your listings and for honouring your commitments
• STUD'IN is not a party to the contract between two members and guarantees neither the quality, the legality, nor the completion of a transaction
• Payments go through Stripe or PayPal, which apply their own terms; we never have access to your banking data
• In case of dispute, contact the other member first, then report the listing to us if no agreement is reached

9. Payments via PayPal

STUD'IN allows users to provide their PayPal email address to facilitate peer-to-peer payments. By using this feature, you agree to the following:

• STUD'IN acts solely as a matchmaking intermediary and is not a party to PayPal transactions
• You are solely responsible for the accuracy of your PayPal email address
• Each transaction is governed by PayPal's Terms of Service
• STUD'IN does not take any commission on payments made via PayPal

10. Alice assistant and artificial intelligence

Alice is a helper, not an authority. You agree to:

• Check any decisive information against an official source — exam dates, administrative steps, calculations, legal or medical advice
• Not use Alice to produce work you would present as entirely your own where your institution forbids it
• Not attempt to bypass its safeguards or make it produce illegal or hateful content
• Accept that answers may be inaccurate: STUD'IN guarantees neither their accuracy nor their completeness

11. Communities

Anyone can create a community. Its creator becomes responsible for it and undertakes to:

• Choose a name that does not impersonate a brand, a school or an existing association
• Moderate what is posted there and remove anything breaking the rules
• Accept that STUD'IN may close a community left unmoderated

12. The Gazette and student offers

Offers published in The Gazette bind their author alone. By publishing one, you warrant that:

• The announced discount is real and applies on the stated terms
• The offer stays valid until the expiry date you set
• You withdraw it as soon as it can no longer be honoured
• STUD'IN may remove a misleading or expired offer without notice

13. Challenges

Challenges take place in public spaces. You agree to:

• Never endanger your safety or anyone else's to complete a challenge
• Respect the places, property and people you encounter
• Submit only genuine evidence: falsified content voids the points and may lead to exclusion

14. Messaging

Messaging is for exchanges between members. Mass unsolicited messages, advertising for an outside service, and repeated commercial solicitation are prohibited. A member may block you at any time.

15. Points, badges and leaderboard

Points and badges have no monetary value and cannot be sold, traded or converted. Any manipulation — multiple accounts, automated actions, false validations — resets the score and may lead to account closure.

16. Professional accounts

Partner, institution and association accounts have additional tools. They further undertake to:

• Publish only genuine offers, honourable on the announced terms, and withdraw expired ones
• Genuinely represent the organisation they publish on behalf of
• Not use the data of contacted students for purposes other than those announced

17. STUD'IN MOBILE

Use of STUD'IN MOBILE (iOS and Android) is subject to these Terms of Use. By downloading or using the app, you also agree to:

• The terms of use of the App Store (Apple) or Google Play (Google)
• Permissions requested by STUD'IN MOBILE (notifications, camera, location) are optional unless otherwise stated
• STUD'IN reserves the right to update STUD'IN MOBILE and modify its features at any time

18. Notifications

By creating an account, you agree to receive notifications tied to the running of the service — messages, replies, reminders. Promotional notifications are optional and can be switched off at any time in your settings.

19. Service availability

STUD'IN is provided as is. The service may be interrupted for maintenance, updates or technical incidents, without any right to compensation. We do our best to announce planned interruptions in advance.

20. Moderation and Termination

We reserve the right to monitor or remove content violating these terms

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time without notice

You can delete your account at any time from settings

21. Reporting and sanctions

Any member can report content or an account. Depending on severity, we may:

• Remove the content concerned
• Temporarily suspend the account
• Withdraw verified status or publishing rights
• Permanently close the account on repeat or serious offences
• You may contest a decision by writing to contact@stud-in.be

22. Applicable Law

These Terms are governed by Belgian law. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of Brussels courts
